Shaolin Monks get the
Dragon Spirit.
Our Dragon Spirit Line Array System has just returned from a tour
with the incredible Shaolin Monks. It made perfect sense for them to
chose this rig, besides the clarity of sound across all ranges of
application - live music, vocals, playback and action, the rig was
designed, built and assembled in the Monks’ home country of China.
Twenty Monks (and young trainees) travelled all the way from the
Shaolin Temple in China, to demonstrate their martial arts expertise
to the UK. The action included a crescendo of kung-fu sequences as
the Shaolin Monks were lifted aloft on sharpened spears, splintered
wooden blocks with their bare hands, broke bricks on their heads and
flew through the air in an incredible series of backflips and spins.
Of course, the rig also gave a fantastic performance - adding to the
excitement by amplifying the astonishing feats of strength and skill
of the Kung Fu Masters.
Putting Spirit Into The Thames Festival
Pyramid Audio love working at The Lord
Mayor’s Thames Festival!
It is always a spectacular event, but this year exceeded our
expectations even more than ever. The sheer variety of
entertainment
throughout the day would be enough to satisfy anyone, while the
evening shows – Transe Express’s human chandelier (100 feet above
Jubilee Gardens), the 2000 colourful carnival characters and the
massive fireworks display, were truly jaw-dropping.
We have supplied the sound for the festival for the last 7 years and
this year, for the first time, we used a single brand of speaker –
Dragon Spirit. Pro Sound News featured both companies in their
October edition.
Over half a million people enjoyed the weekend’s festivities,
including our five stages, which were spread out along the Thames
from The London Eye to Tower Bridge.
The Hubble Bubble and Silk Row
stages both featured fusions of world music, while two other stages
included Al Fresco ballrooms – in fact, The Tate Modern stage hosted
the biggest open-air Tango event ever held in the UK! Our most
unusual setting, however, was probably the Bandstand on Southwark
Bridge, which had been closed to the public and turned into various
themed areas including a beach, a banquet and an outdoor-indoor
lounge.
We’re already getting excited about what next year’s event might
throw at us!
